We are delighted to be working with a fantastic institute based In Ipswich who are currently seeking to appoint a knowledgeable and forward-thinking Health & Safety Advisor. The successful candidate will be the main point of contact for all health and safety issues with a key role in raising awareness and ensuring that everyone on site acknowledges and embraces their individual responsibility for health and safety.
Key Duties & Responsibilities Include:
- Provide advice and guidance on all health and safety issues, including evaluating options, making recommendations, and generating action plans to ensure legal compliance and best practice across the sites
- To raise awareness of the health and safety obligations and responsibilities, providing comprehensive and practical advice to all.
- Facilitating the delivery of a health and safety training programme to promote, develop and sustain a positive approach to health, safety and wellbeing including the design and delivery of in-house training and sourcing external training providers.
- Providing support to staff with specific health and safety responsibilities and ensuring they have appropriate and up to date training e.g. first aid, manual handling, fire marshalling, personal care.
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating an annual health and safety action plan
- Co-ordinating, monitoring and assisting with the production of appropriate risk assessments to comply with legislation, to promote wellbeing and to ensure all potential risks are identified and control measures implemented and monitored.
Experience, Skills, & Qualifications Required:
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant subjects including civil and criminal law, health and safety management and technical advances
- Experience of interpreting and implementing health and safety legislation in the context of an educational or similar environment
- A proven track record of delivering customer-focussed health and safety initiatives to deadline
- Experience of writing policies and procedures
- Design and delivery of training sessions
- Experience of providing advice to a range of differing audience
- Experience in the use of H&S audit and inspection software
- A strong work ethic, with the ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision and direction
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence, persuade and communicate with people at all levels
- NEBOSH Qualification
- Good Standard of Education with Literacy & Numeracy at level 2 or equivalent
- Full driving license and access to own vehicle
