Health & Safetyand Back of House Manager
Employment Type: Permanent | Monday to Friday (100% on-site)
Hours Per Week: 40 hours per week, subject to requirements of the business
Salary: Up to 42,000 pa depending on the experience
RESPONSIBILITY
- Managing the Back of House team, including KPs, BOH Supervisor, and Business Administration Assistant.
- The first point of contact for all BOH operational matters, including prevention and response to issues that pose a risk to the business and staff.
- Overseeing third-party contractors on site when conducting general maintenance works and inspections, ensuring a clear process is in place to monitor access, following company working practices and work permits, and managing all equipment.
- Overseeing purchasing and procurement of dry store food items, sundries, light and heavy equipment
- Reconciliation of invoices, stocktake forms, accruing and prioritising purchases in line with budget. (working with Management accountant and Business Administration Assistant)
- Responsible for onboarding and assisting with all new starters' H&S inductions in line with regulatory guidelines
- Responsible for driving and delivering Food Safety, H&S training, and Allergen management systems
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Responsible for back-of-house kitchen porter team in the recruitment, onboarding, work schedules, training, development, etc
- Liaising with HODs in all H&S training and ensuring the online training platform is up to date for the business
- Directing sustainability efforts such as food waste reduction, waste composting
- Investigate and lead on accidents, near misses, allergy incidents and alleged food poisoning investigations with the Executive Chef, Head Chef and Operations Manager.
- Be responsible for the 4 key audits: EHO, Navitas, Assurity and the HOD’s monthly audits
- Acting as the onsite safety officer for all catering areas. Drive performance by establishing Safety and maintenance priorities, identifying high-risk areas, initiating actions to reduce risk exposure and communicating with managers and staff about safety needs and problems
- Completing audits on all areas of the business to ensure health and Safety and food hygiene compliance
- Providing occasional support to the Head of Safety at Searcys for any compliance needs activities.
- Any other reasonable request by management
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
- Will be highly organised, able to work and prioritise workload to meet changeable, and sometimes tight, deadlines
- Intermediate computer skills involve understanding multiple Back of House system software and file management.
- Must have Level 3 FS & H&S qualification
- Ideally, a Level 4 Food Hygiene qualification holder
- Proven track record of managing a medium-sized team within a contract catering business
