Situation
Ford & Stanley Recruitment are working with a leading operator in the UK Heavy Haul rail freight market, on their search for a Fleet Controller.
You will be responsible for the availability of the 160 locomotives, ensuring maintenance schedules are kept whilst still delivering to demanding customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the development of a proactive safety culture within the engineering team to deliver the business’ safety plans and objectives by providing effective communications and professional advice, guidance and support to the director, managers, health and safety representatives and the occupational health service.
- Lead the integration of occupational health and safety best practice and risk management principles into all Northern activities, facilitating continuous improvement in safety standards and performance.
- Manage the annual safety plan and supporting objectives to support the railway strategic safety plan, ensuring these plans are integrated within the business planning and objective setting process.
- Identify hazards associated with Northern engineering activities and develop generic or specialised risk assessments which address the key risks to the business and others who may be affected. Develop and facilitate the introduction of relevant control measures identified in risk assessments and lead periodic systematic reviews to ensure they remain suitable and sufficient.
- Compile and manage the delivery of the annual audit plan to assess the effectiveness of adherence to the safety management system
Location: Leeds, Manchester or York.
Salary: Up to £55,000
Working Practice: 5 days on site
Agreed Criteria for candidates to secure interview
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (or strong evidence working towards).
- Rail engineering background or similar (will consider relevant experience in other industrial sectors).
- Experience dealing with multiple stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to develop short and long terms plans.
