Health & Safety Coordinator

A family run business that supply building materials to the trade and public for many years require a Health & Safety Coordinator to ensure management of all Health & Safety aspects across all 3 local branches. The ideal candidate will preferably have a CSCS card, hold a NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.

Package: £40,000 - £45,000 p.a. DOE + Benefits
Working Hours: Mon - Fri, 9am - 5pm (35 Hours per week)

The Role
Reporting to the Directors & Site Managers, your areas of responsibility will be:
-Work with cloud-based Health and Safety Advisors, managing and recording training and statutory inspections.
-Support the business as the lead in Health and Safety across 3 local sites.
-Carry out site Health and Safety audits with our Safety Advisors and act on the outcome of these audits
-Undertake health and safety risk assessments on any contractors engaged by the company, ensuring RAMS are current and relevant.
-Create and review safe systems of work and procedures for health and safety
-Coordinate accident and near miss investigation processes
-Review, update and maintain the sites Health and Safety policy in line with legislation
-Coordinate the supply and issuing of PPE
-Create and lead worker Health and Safety briefings
-Carry out reviews and give Health and Safety guidance on any project undertaken by the business
-Ensuring that training for first aid and fire wardens are current and that sufficient staff are trained.
-COSHH management
The Person
Preferably, you will have prior hands-on H&S experience with a CSCS card.
You will hold or have experience in the following:
-Proven track record and hands on experience in a Health and Safety role.
-Previous experience in builders merchanting or building site management.
-Practical knowledge of plant and crane maintenance would be preferred.
-Organised and motivated to move the department forward
-Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within all levels of the organisation
-Good working knowledge of current health and safety legislation and the requirements this imposes on a business.
