ROLE RESPONSIBILITY:
- Advise the senior management team on the implementation of company health and safety, AND FIRE prevention policy, and other relevant legislation to ensure that the business unit/area is operated in a safe manner.
- Undertake, plan and monitor inspections, risk assessments and audits ensuring they are carried out for all areas of the business unit/area, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of employees, those in our care and others working or present within the business establishment/area.
- Investigate and report on all accidents, lost time incidents, RIDDOR’s and near misses including HPIs, ensuring that lessons learnt are acted upon, and that the risk of a reoccurrence are minimised.
- Assist in the development, implementation and delivery of Health, Safety, Fire and Environmental staff training programmes, to raise staff awareness of their responsibilities in respect of Health, Safety, Fire and Environmental practice.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external agencies to ensure best practice and effective co-ordination and co-operation on Health, Safety, Fire and Environmental issues
- Monitor the environment on a daily basis, ensuring that appropriate health and safety AND FIRE procedures are appropriate and consistently applied.
- Act in accordance with security and operational instructions at all times to ensure the maintenance of security within the secure environment. (As required by secure establishments).
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent or will be working towards it.
- Recognised Fire Risk assessor course.
- Strong attention to detail and experience of report writing.
- Strong influencing skills.
- High level of resilience.
- Experience of delivering training in a classroom setting.
- Experience of monitoring service delivery and meeting short term objectives
- Understanding of company’s purchasing procedures and systems (Safe Contractor accreditation).
- Ability to lead on a positive health, safety AND FIRE culture.
- Familiarity with the health & safety standards such as ISO 45001 or the British Safety Councils Five Star Audit Process.
