An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic individual interested in Dermatology nursing:
Although previous dermatology experience is desirable much of the role can be undertaken with support and Guidance from the senior nursing team within the department.
You will be expected to be able to carry out Triage assessment on our patients and to assist in the minor operation lists in our department working as a runner supporting the scrub nurse and Surgeon. You will also work within the Chronic disease service supporting patients who are living with chronic skin diseases who are attending clinics.
- Assist in minor surgery within Dermatology and Plastic Surgery.
- To communicate effectively with patients, carers, visitors and staff.
- To assist with the safe guidance of patients, acting as escort if appropriate.
- Assist Registered Nurses and Medical staff with clinical procedures.
- To chaperone patients during consultation and reassure the patient as necessary.
- Prepare the clinical rooms for clinics/minor skin surgery.
- Competent in the handing and decanting of liquid nitrogen so it can be used in clinic.
- To accurately complete documentation e.g. patient records such as treatment. Request forms with doctors instructions.
- To take appropriate action in a clinical emergency.
- At times of peak activity, assist with reception duties to maintain patient flow through the department.
- To proactively utilise and implement all infection control policies within the Trust; using personal protective equipment appropriately; hand washing/decolonisation between activities.
- To complete any relevant departmental / Trust audits as requested.
