An opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly, established nursing and medical team within the minor injures unit Horsham
Main duties of the job
As a member of the Minor Injuries Unit, you will work with the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring the effective and safe delivery of care under the guidance, instruction and supervision of the EmergencyNurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses. You will ensure the highest possible standards of care are received by patients and their carers while in the unit.
You don't need previous experience; we'll train you on the job, supporting you to be the best that you can be. Your training as a Healthcare Assistant will include basic nursing and therapy skills and we'll support you to achieve achieving the Care Certificate.
With experience and further training, you could further your career in health care opening opportunities to train as anAssistant PractitionerorNursing Associate. With the appropriate qualifications and experience,you could also go on to train as one of the many degree-level healthcare professionals such as a Nurse, Podiatrist, Midwife or Therapist.

Job responsibilities
To be a Healthcare Assistant, you'll need to be:
  • caring and kind
  • cheerful and friendly
  • willing to be hands-on with patients
  • willing to do personal care tasks (washing, toileting, etc)
  • able to follow instructions and procedures
  • able to work in a team but use your own initiative

Person Specification
Qualifications and/or professional registration
Essential
  • Good basic education.

Desirable
  • NVQ 2 or 3 for band 3 post.

Experience
Essential
  • Interest and experience in caring.

Skills and knowledge
Essential
  • Moving and Handling skills
  • Importance of confidentiality, privacy and dignity.
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Ability to problem solve, anticipate and forward plan
  • IT literate/must be able to use a computer
  • Must be able to undertake nursing observations.

Desirable
  • Wound care management
  • Removal of sutures
  • Recording 12 lead ecg's
  • Application and problem solving of plaster casts

  • Is able to participate as a team member
  • Flexibility in shift/working patterns to meet the needs of the service
  • Willing to accept additional responsibilities as delegated by senior staff
