Healthcare Assistant (Paediatrics)

Cromwell Hospital, London, SW5 0TU

Permanent, Full time, 37.5 hours per week

£24,738 - £28,919 + fantastic benefits

Role Overview

You will join the Skyline Children and Young Peoples outpatient’s department, seeing a wide variety of patients ranging from medical, surgical, orthopaedics appointments. The role is based at our internationally renowned private Cromwell hospital which is located in the South Kensington area of London. Our Paediatric Outpatient Department see’s 16 patients a day. These are all short-stay patients and the time of cases that you might come across range from orthopaedic to sports cases. You will gain experience caring for children and young people across a wide range of specialties whilst here with the support of an extensive MDT team including paediatric therapists and health play specialists.

What you’ll do:

  • You will be prioritizing patient care needs, be able to spot an unwell child and complete a comprehensive assessment and escalate accordingly.

  • You will be carrying out heights and weights on patient arrival as well as maintaining strict patient confidentiality.

  • Assisting co-coordinating a busy outpatient department would be part of your job as well.

  • You will be screening patients upon their arrival.

  • Adhering to the hospitals infection control measures and promoting these within the team.

  • In addition to this you will attend study days and adhere to 100% compliance of Cromwell Hospital mandatory training timescales.

  • You will be supporting the consultants in collaboration with the nurses.

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience as a Healthcare Assistant (essential)

  • Hold an NVQ in health and social care

  • Hold the Care Certificate Qualification or willing to complete the training

  • Experience working with children is preferred but we are also interested in Health Care assistants who might not have the experience but are passionate about caring for children.

  • Basic Life Support Trained (desirable)

  • Have a desire to develop both professionally and personally

  • NVQ Level 2 (Direct Patient Care) or equivalent

  • Excellent team player

  • Understanding of safeguarding best practice and awareness of relevant child protection legislation
