What you will be doing
You will be part of a new inclusive and supportive team that will work together to provide care to young people with acute mental health conditions where you will use your knowledge and skills to help support young people lead a valued and fulfilled life.
A warm and nurturing environment is supported, allowing for the understanding of symptoms, patterns, and origins of psychological distress, and will actively encourage the young people to personalise bedroom spaces to make these feel like a home from home.
It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve; being able to do something today that they couldn't do last week because of you.
The shift patterns include working nights and weekends,12.5 hours a day, 3-4 days a week.
Where you will be working
Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Elysium Healthcare are working in partnership to provide a new mental health inpatient service for young people in Surrey in a new purpose-built unit. Emerald Place Clinic is available solely for NHS funded care and treatment and the partnership brings together complementary expertise and best practice to jointly manage the inpatient unit and deliver a high-quality service for young people.
Emerald Place Clinic is a general adolescent inpatient unit for the care and treatment of young people aged 13 up to the age of 18. Young people who are admitted to the unit will have a primary diagnosis of mental illness across a wide range of disorders and complex needs. These could include mental health conditions such as mood disorders and acute psychosis. Additionally young people may have co-existing additional needs such as neurodevelopmental disorders, including mild learning disabilities or autism. A young person could also be admitted if they have disordered eating.
