Please note you are only eligible to apply for this role if:

  • You have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years (there are some exceptions to this, so applicants will need to be considered on a case-by-case basis as required.
  • You are not in full time compulsory education.
  • You are able to meet the entry requirements of the qualification and to undertake the studying and coursework required to complete the course.

The Job Role

As a Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance technician apprentice you will contribute to providing high quality servicing and Maintenance of the Council’s fleet of Heavy Vehicles such as gritters and refuse vehicles

You will work alongside experienced technicians and specialists to learn modern techniques of vehicle maintenance working on a wide range of vehicles and workshop practices helping to keep the Kirklees fleet of vehicles on the road

You will work towards a Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician apprenticeship


We’d like to hear from you if you are
:

  • Interested in a career in vehicle mechanics particularly heavy goods vehicles
  • Interested in a technical career
  • Wanting to continue to develop educationally while learning on the job
  • Good at working as part of a team

You will need:

  • Level 2 GCSEs in Maths and English
  • To demonstrate an interest in the Heavy Vehicle industry
  • Good communication skills
  • Problem solving skills
