Job description

The post holder is member of the Supplies Department and will be responsible for carrying out any duties commensurate with the grade of post. Services include the movement of staff, food, goods, and pharmacy to all wards and departments. Transporting and delivery of recyclable waste. The role requires flexibility in approach to the duties required as these may alter throughout the course of a work day/week.
High standards of quality will be expected to be delivered in line with LTHT practices and policies. The post holder will be expected to have basic knowledge of a number of administrative and operational functions and utilise both facilities and LTHT IT systems in order to complete their job role. The nature of the role requires the use of responding to some tasks via a defined communication system. Adhering to standards and practices in Trust Policy and facilities practices/procedural manuals alongside national initiatives, to ensure that a safe and clean environment is provided for patients.
Team members will be expected to operate as part of the Suppliesteam covering any Trust managed service within the region. 3. ORGANISATIONAL CHART 4. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY To drive any Trust vehicle to undertake any duties relevant for the role.
To maintain vehicles in good working order and use it to maximum efficiency. Reporting faults and breakdowns immediately to your line manager . At the start of each shift carry out the appropriate vehicle checks and complete the vehicle record logs. To complete all relevant daily documentation and vehicle checks in compliance with relevant statutory legislation and local codes of practice and quality control procedures.
The post holder must present their driving licence for inspection and recording on an annual basis and promptly report any penalties or points in line with trust policies and procedures. Under take training to operate different vehicle systems. Download tachographs to record your periods of driving, work and rest, plus distance travelled and vehicle speed. Carry out lock up duties of vehicles as required.
Challenge individuals in restricted areas who do not have identification and members of staff not wearing ID badges. Assist in promoting initiatives for tackling violence and aggression against staff and health care professionals within the Trust (Zero Tolerance initiative), through innovation, education, prevention and detection routes, along with close working relationships with the security. Ensure an adequate supply of items/equipment necessary for the role are maintained. Ensure that all duties are carried out in line with quality control procedures using standard facilities documentation.
To ensure that the correct uniform and PPE is worn at all times whilst on duty. Provide advice to patients, relatives, other staff relating to security/safety of others in a conflict situation Receipt of incoming deliveries/goods/products ensuring that all goods inwards are checked against delivery notes and official orders. Ensuring that items meet quality and quantity specified and any good specific requirements. The collection and delivery movement of staff, food, goods and pharmacy to all wards and departments.
The removal of waste carts to designated areas in line with Trust Policy. To use the warehouse management system which coordinates the daily tasks which require undertaking. The good housekeeping of the hospital/warehouse environment and equipment internally/externally related to the specific job role using approved methods and equipment/mechanical aids to national/Trust standards to ensure that a professional image is maintained at all times. Operation and minor maintenance of all equipment necessary for the role to be used in compliance with standard operating procedures To undertake the duties of any of the specific job role ensuring that all the procedures, correct practices are adhered resulting in excellent patient satisfaction.
Ensuring all communications are responded to in an efficient/timely manner. To follow all local method statements & risk assessments to ensure that the role is undertaken in a safe, secure manner. Act on feedback given from any quality assurance system To report any faults/issues/complaints regarding service provision or equipment immediately to the supervisor or other appropriate senior Trust staff member To complete and record role specific data/information either electronically or in written format that is required complying with operational procedures or local/Trust/National policy and audit recommendations/controls. Use and maintain any role specific databases/hardware/software, in accordance with departmental guidelines.
To ensure that requests for information are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner. To organise and sort goods/items in an effectively manner for distribution across the Trust sites according to schedules. To deputise when required for the Supervisors The job may require other duties to be carried out as may reasonably be requested by line management commensurate with the grade of the post. 5.

Hand hygiene must be performed before and after contact with patients and their environment. 8. HEALTH AND SAFETY / RISK MANAGEMENT All staff are responsible for working with their colleagues to maintain and improve the quality of services provided to our patients and other service users.
This includes complying at all times with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Policies, including Health and Safety policies, in particular by following agreed security and safer working procedures, and reporting incidents using the Trust Incident Reporting system 9. The jobholder will undertake all mandatory training required for the role. 11. COMMUNICATION & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS To work as part of the Supplies team in line with Trust and departmental policies and procedures.
Communicate with all members of Trust staff, visitors and patients in a tactful and polite manner. Communicate with staff from external contractors and agencies; including lease companies, insurance, Freight Transport Association & Leeds City Council. 12. SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS i) PHYSICAL EFFORT: This job can involve prolonged periods of walking and frequent moderate physical activity and therefore the post holder must be capable of undertaking such duties.
