Herdsperson, Somerset, 220 Registered Pedigree Holstein Cows

We have a new contract vacancy for a herdsperson to be responsible for all aspects of the livestock daily routine on this family farm 7 miles north of Shepton Mallet. 
Cows are calved all year round and are fed a TMR and currently yield in excess of 10000ltrs on x2 milkings. The unit has a well maintained 20/20 GEA HB parlour with ACR’s and cluster flush and the in-parlour feeding is used to supplement the TMR. The housing is in sawdust bedded cubicles which provide a comfortable environment for the cows in winter and an extensive track system allows for access to grazing through the summer. Calves are reared using an automated milk machine. 
Duties will include one milking per day, herd health, record keeping, remedial foot trimming (routine trimming is outsourced), calf rearing. Pedometers are used to assist with heat detection and AI skills would be an advantage. 
The package will include regular time off, salary to reflect experience and a rent/council tax free 3 bed-room semi-detached house with c/h and d/g.
