Salary Range and Hours: £38,936 - £44,438 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent, full time 37 hours

Location: Norwich, NR7 0WF

Salary Range and Hours: Band F, £38,936 - £44,438 per annum, 37 hours per week - with effect from 1 April 2024, Grade F salary range will be £39,686 - £44,438. If you commence employment before the 1 April 2024, your salary will be automatically uplifted in line with the implementation of the pay offer after 1 April 2024.

South Norfolk and Broadland Council have an ambitious growth agenda with some significant projects to deliver including large scale residential schemes and urban extensions, key employment sites including enterprise zones, and an emerging local plan for Greater Norwich to deliver against. We are an ambitious organisation and a dynamic, forward thinking, and proactive multi-disciplinary Development Management team, seeking to deliver against the growth agenda, shaping and creating sustainable communities and protecting and enhancing our rich cultural heritage and landscape.

Covering two council areas around the city of Norwich, we have a large growth agenda to deliver against. The two Councils receive circa 4000 planning applications year, covering a diverse area including urban areas, rural areas, and vibrant market towns, and serve approximately 260,000 residents and 10,000 businesses across 161 parishes. Our work therefore encompasses both urban and rural planning, residential, retail, commercial, and agricultural development.

We also have a significant number of large-scale sites and projects to deliver across the two council areas including:

  • Local Development Orders for employment areas to stimulate further economic growth.
  • Several Development Consent Orders for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) including renewable energy, power distribution and highways projects.
  • Large urban extensions at various stages of the planning process.
  • Several growing and high-profile employment areas and sites.

You will need…

  • To provide professional advice on all matters relating to heritage assets through the development process to improve and enhance the built environment throughout the districts and to secure the implementation of buildings and spaces of high quality.
  • To carry an application case load on householder, listed building, minor and other applications, including site inspections, publicity, liaison with technical consultees, negotiation with applicants/agents, objectors, and the public.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree level education with post graduate qualification in planning related or heritage related subject.
  • Membership of the IHBC (or eligible to become a full member within a year).
  • Full UK driving license.
