About the Role:
We currently have an exciting role for a HGV Mechanic, providing an excellent opportunity to join the Moran Logistics team at our Castle Donnington site. We have various shifts available and offer excellent rates of pay.
As a HGV Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring all fleet vehicles are in a road worth condition and that service operations are maintained by inspecting and maintaining vehicles. You will also ensure full compliance with company policies and procedures and any legal requirements at all times.
As a HGV Mechanic, you will be:
Responsible for the maintenance and repair of company vehiclesEnsuring the daily control and monitoring of driver defects, ensuring the fleet is legally compliantResponsible for ensuring preventative maintenance such as, engine tuneups, oil changes, wheel balancing and replacing filters, is kept up to date on fleet vehiclesMaintaining vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damageVerifying vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systemsComplying with any legal vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and any control standardsResponsible for maintaining vehicle records by recording service and repairs in line with company policies and procedures and legal requirementsKeeping company fleet vehicles operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance and calling for repairsMaintaining fleet costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts optionsKeeping supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders and verifying receiptUnderstanding and adhering to the company policy and proceduresSupporting the fleet team as requiredProactively approaching preventative maintenanceWhat we are looking for:
Full UK driving licenseRelevant technical motor mechanic qualificationProven understanding of vehicle maintenance practices and proceduresFull HGV license would be advantageousAbility to demonstrate a good working knowledge of current health and safety, Environmental and Road Transport legislationGood communication and listening skillsAbility to listen to and follow instructionsAbility to work to deadlinesAbility to remain calm under pressureA good accuracy levelGood numeracy and literacyAbility to work alone or as part of a team as requiredAbility to organise own workload and have ability to balance prioritiesTail lift and fridge maintenance experience (desirable)Strong negotiator/ Challenging naturePrevious experience dealing with DAF/MAN (desirable)Financially consciousBenefits of joining the Moran Logistics team:
