Job Description:
As an HGV Mechanic you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and functionality of our waste vehicle fleet. You will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a variety of heavy goods vehicles used in waste management operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for mechanics and a desire to contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections and diagnostics to identify vehicle issues.
- Perform maintenance and repair tasks, including engine, transmission, suspension, and brake system repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to extend the lifespan of vehicles.
- Collaborate with colleagues and follow safety protocols at all times.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed.
- Assist with equipment and parts procurement as needed.
- Participate in training and stay updated on industry best practices and technology.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or similar role, preferably in waste vehicle maintenance.
- A valid HGV mechanic qualification or relevant certification.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
