Job Title:HGV Mechanic
Location: Chorley

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Mechanic to join our team and contribute to our mission of maintaining a fleet of safe and efficient waste vehicles.
Job Description:
As an HGV Mechanic you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and functionality of our waste vehicle fleet. You will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a variety of heavy goods vehicles used in waste management operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for mechanics and a desire to contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine inspections and diagnostics to identify vehicle issues.
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks, including engine, transmission, suspension, and brake system repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to extend the lifespan of vehicles.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and follow safety protocols at all times.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Assist with equipment and parts procurement as needed.
  • Participate in training and stay updated on industry best practices and technology.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or similar role, preferably in waste vehicle maintenance.
  • A valid HGV mechanic qualification or relevant certification.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours when necessary.
