Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and reliable HGV Class 2 Refuse Driver to join our waste management team. As a Refuse Driver, you will be responsible for operating heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to collect and transport refuse materials from designated locations. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to adhere to waste disposal regulations.
Responsibilities:
1. Driving and Operation:
- Safely operate and drive HGV Class 2 vehicles to designated collection points for refuse pickup.
- Carry out pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure its roadworthiness.
- Adhere to established routes and schedules while optimizing efficiency.
- Collect refuse materials from residential and commercial areas, ensuring timely and accurate pick-ups.
- Handle waste bins and containers, ensuring proper lifting and disposal procedures.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary vehicle interior to prevent contamination.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations to ensure safe driving practices.
- Utilize proper safety equipment and protocols during waste collection and disposal activities.
- Comply with waste disposal regulations and environmental guidelines.
- Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner during waste collection activities.
- Report any issues, incidents, or deviations from the schedule promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions or maintenance needs to the maintenance team.
- Assist in basic vehicle maintenance tasks as needed.
1. License and Qualifications:
- Valid HGV Class 2 license.
- CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Proven experience as an HGV Class 2 Driver, preferably in refuse collection.
- Familiarity with waste management regulations and procedures.
- Strong driving skills and the ability to navigate designated routes efficiently.
- Excellent attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy waste bins.
