Job description

High Voltage Engineer, a permanent, salaried role based in North Wales, working for a major civil engineer. Reporting to the site project Director, there is an expectation to live client-side Monday to Thursday, offered with subsided accommodation and daily meal allowances. Due to the location of this project, you will need to live within a 2.5-hour travel time to allow quality weekend home leave. With a very competitive annual salary, company car/car allowance, enhanced holidays, subsided pension, life cover and wellbeing program, the post is offered with a stable 4-5-year project.

Main responsibilities will include the leading and management of the High Voltage (HV) Cable and HV Plant subcontractors (in delivering the works and ensuring compliance with all relevant requirements), to manage the HV designer and sub-contractor design activities and deliverables to ensure they are completed in line with the agreed program and Project requirements.

You will act as the technical lead for the HV work on the project, ensuring both input and output deliverables for the design are tracked and reported to the Project Director and Engineering Manager as required. You will manage the MEP designer and subcontractor design activities and deliverables to ensure they are completed in line. Ideally, we are looking for 10 Year plus experience with on High Voltage projects with a Contractor, with previous experience on National Grid (NG) Projects as an Contractor, preferably on 400kV and 132 kV circuits. There is an advantage to have experience on Design & Build Project as a Contractor.

As High Voltage Engineer you will manage and communicate all design queries, comments and information required from Design workshops and meetings, keeping accurate records. You will raise requests for further information internally and externally from the whole project team, supporting the Design manager to ensure all HV and MEP design deliverables are timeously provided as per the of design programmes. To review Designers monthly reports and submissions and produce monthly reports on design progress and any other design specific elements. To attend interface meeting with external parties and assign/follow up on actions related to the Design, arrange internal design interface meetings with construction department, ensuring compliance with design management processes required by the contract. Collaborate with the engagement of external suppliers/subcontractors. Manage provision of drawings to project team - document control. Manage the BIM requirements for permanent and temporary works together with the BIM/CAD Technician. Identify Temporary Works and assist lead TWC with preparing Design briefs for HV & MEP Designs from subcontractors. Lead the management of the HV/LV subcontractors and suppliers on the project.

Actively promote high standards of Health, Safety, Environmental, Sustainability and Quality compliance, including active monitoring of performance. Maintain a high level of knowledge of requirements and ensure compliance in all areas of the project. Arrange input from external advisors as required. Action any improvements identified and provide appropriate records for close out. Support the investigation and report into accidents, incidents and near misses. Ensure completion of appropriate reports and action plans, including close out of identified actions.

Ideally educated to B.Eng Civil/Electrical Engineering, with a qualifications in High Voltage (Authorised Person High Voltage - HTM 06-03 course), High Voltage Cable Jointing AC and/or Electrical Engineering.
