Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for work in Derby?

Winner Education are seeking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work with a school who provide independent special educational needs placements and are market leaders in alternative provision in the midlands area. This role is a full-time permanent position to start as soon as possible. The ideal candidate must have previous experience within SEN support, and you must enjoy working with children you support and strive to ensure each child can achieve their true potential.

SALARY: £21,600

LOCATION: Ilkeston

HOURS: Full time (Monday – Friday), 9am-3pm, school term time only

START DATE: ASAP

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Support Hub Manager and Lead Teachers with planning, preparation and assessment of an innovative and flexible curriculum.
• Teach on a 1:1 and/or small group sessions as required
• Play an active part in the developments of the school by supporting curriculum and development strand leads to drive forward improvement strands in a positive way.
• Act in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures under the guidance of the designated Hub Manager and adhere to the organisation’s Equal Opportunities and Diversity policy.
• Advocate on behalf of the young people and their families in your care.
• Encourage learner involvement in the decision making and the management of their programmes to support and maintain high learner engagement levels.
• Support the Senior Leaders within the Company to create and maintain high quality environments which are compliant with Health & Safety.
• Be a role model for Teaching Assistants and act as an ambassador for the Company's values and professional behaviours.
• Line manage and mentor a delegated group of Teaching Assistants
• Be responsible for the day-to-day guidance of designated staff, providing regular support and supervision, lesson observations and informal visits.
• Refer any designated staff to the Improvement Team, where relevant, in accordance with the organisation’s procedures for quality assurance as and when appropriate.
• Carry out additional duties as reasonably requested by the Hub Manager and be responsible for your own continuous professional development.

The successful Higher Level Teaching Assistant must:

• Be flexible and innovative
• Have at last two years experience working with SEN children, young people or vulnerable adults within an education setting
• Demonstrate experience of working with and developing effective resources for young people with additional needs
• Hold a relevant minimum qualification of Level 4 (You will need to produce evidence of previous curriculum specific CPD)
• Demonstrate the passion to ensure each school develops a positive impact on each child
• Hold key values and ethos of Trust, Innovation and Achievement
