Summary
The governors, staff and children are looking for an enthusiastic HLTA to join our welcoming school team.
Royal Cross Primary School is a specialist school for deaf children, providing an outstanding education.
The successful applicant will have a secure understanding and knowledge of the National and EYFS curriculum and will be able to adapt it to meet the needs of our individual pupils.
Royal Cross Primary School uses a total communication approach and the successful applicant will be able to develop and support language and communication plans.
The successful applicant will be a BSL level 2 signer or will be willing to achieve this qualification.

The post is term time plus 5 paid training days, 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3.30pm - including ½ hour lunch duty.

Essential Qualifications
- Recognised and relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
- Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy.
- Qualified ELKLAN practitioner Level 3 (or willingness to complete within 1 year)
BSL level 1 and level 2 (or a willingness to complete within 3 years)
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ level 4 qualification or equivalent
HLTA status
Essential Experience
- Experience of working with children
Experience of leading children and has a sound subject knowledge of National Curriculum and EYFS and how it can be adapted to meet the needs of individual pupils working in a classroom environment
Desirable Experience
- Experience of Administrative work
- Experience of supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
- Experience of managing, leading and supporting other staff in the classroom/service environment
Experience of working with deaf children and children with SEN
