We are currently recruiting for an admin officer based in Lisburn. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork, ANI clearance has been completed.

Duration: Temporary approximately 11 months
Rate of pay: £17.09
Hours of work: Monday – Friday (9am – 5 pm 37 hours a week) flexi available, core hours 10:00 too 12:00 and 14:00 to 15:30 h
Key Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will be part of the Integrated Catchment Planning Team based in the Water Management Unit, Lisburn with opportunity to also work hybrid from home.
The post holder will play a key role in the following areas:
• Assist with operation, evaluation and review of WQIS applications and assessment.
• Manage the appointed 2024/25 projects as the ‘Client Officer’, communicate effectively with the grantees, ensure agreed project milestones are met and budget is spent through monthly feedback reports and meetings.
• Assist with the planning and discussions of the 2024/25 Water Quality Improvement Strand Grant launch.
• Review and update of funding webpages and documents in preparation for the 2024/25 WQIS launch.
• Collating information gathered on measures to enable the completion of economic assessment, Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA).
• Familiarisation with the strategies and goals of the wider Department and keeping up to date with developments related to water quality and mitigation measures.
• Supporting the wider work of the ICP team including collating and reviewing scientific evidence, production of GIS maps, supplying data and information, engagement with stakeholders.
Essential Criteria applicants must have:
five GCSE/GCE (or equivalence) passes (at A, B or C) with Maths and English.

1a. A degree or an equivalent qualification in natural sciences
AND
1b. At least 3 year’s experience gained within the last 8 years at a professional level in an environmental water management related field
• the provision of evidence based scientific advice;
• temporal and spatial assessment of scientific information against specific criteria;
• scientific data management and preparation of scientific reports;
OR
2a. A HNC/ HND or an equivalent qualification in natural sciences
AND
2b. At least 5 years’ experience gained within the last 8 years at a professional level in an environmental water management related field
• the provision of evidence based scientific advice;
• temporal and spatial assessment of scientific information against specific criteria;
• scientific data management and preparation of scientific reports;
AND
A full Driving Licence valid for Northern Ireland that will enable the candidate to carry out the duties of the post in full.
Desirable Criteria:
A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an administrative role
Excellent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Excellent communication skills.
Proven ability to use own initiative.
Experience gained at a professional level in an environmental water management related field; water resource management, aquatic sciences or water ecology/ chemistry; or water quality regulation. Examples of this may include:
• 3 years’ experience in use of ArcMap GIS and geoprocessing in the context of water resources planning: data analysis and mapping
• 3 years’ experience in pressure & impact analysis, statistics/ trend analysis
• 3 years’ experience in river basin planning and water quality assessment
• 3 years’ experience in classification and objective setting
• 3 years’ experience making informed decisions using scientific based evidence;
• 3 years’ experience assessment of scientific information against specific criteria;
