Responsibilities:
- Perform accurate and timely histopathological examinations of tissue samples obtained from patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
- Interpret microscopic findings, histological patterns, and cellular abnormalities to diagnose various diseases, including cancers, inflammatory conditions, and infectious diseases.
- Provide diagnostic opinions and clinical recommendations based on histopathological findings to guide patient management and treatment planning.
- Liaise with clinicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to discuss diagnostic results, patient histories, and treatment options.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review complex cases, discuss treatment strategies, and formulate patient management plans.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, including histopathology trainees, laboratory technicians, and pathology assistants.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, quality assurance protocols, and laboratory accreditation requirements in histopathology practice.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new laboratory techniques, procedures, and protocols to improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements:
- Medical degree from a recognized institution and full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) or equivalent qualification in histopathology.
- Substantial experience in diagnostic histopathology practice, including interpretation of complex histological specimens.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in supervising and training junior medical staff and laboratory personnel.
