Working in a Bonded Warehouse ensuring compliance for the HMRC is kept up to date whilst covering Maternity.
Overview of role
The responsibility of the HMRC Compliance Officer is to ensure the company’s bonded warehouse accreditations are maintained, meeting all legal requirements, as-well as oversee the management of customs entries, customs clearances and compliant storage of all products.
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the HMRC Compliance Officer will also work and liaise with internal departments to ensure customs documentation and processes adhere to company and legal policies and processes, minimising compliance risks and maintaining the highest standards possible through effective management of all customs related activities.
Duties & responsibilities
• Daily management and point of escalation concerning all UK customs matters
• Main contact for all HMRC audits and queries
• Ensure all processes are kept up to date including database development requests / testing
• Submit and maintain Warehouse Excise Approval amendment requests if required
• Oversee Purchase Order receipting and help resolve queries
• Resolve any bond issues relating to Off Trade products/processes with the Off Trade team
• Regular review with Finance team on excise reconciliation and assist in researching and resolving any queries
• Carry out NAV software update project testing when required
• Submit W5D payments online
• Submit HMRC Warehouse W1 returns
• Create UK Bond and Export documentation
• Submission of Northern Ireland ENS entries and Supplementary Declarations
• Create VI1 documentation
• Manage De-stamping of spirits for Export
• Validate new product set ups
• Monitor Duty Deferment and Movement Guarantee levels
• Validate new UK Supplier Due Diligence and maintain AWRS authorisation
• Perform Due Diligence checks on new owners in the warehouse
• Maintain the Organic Authorisation and process
• Collate and monitor W5ds from third party warehouses ensuring back up/workings are included, specifically order information
• Monitor and resolve undischarged inbound/outbound ARCs and Export Entries
• Report losses to HMRC
• Implement new Excise Duty rates and Duty Price rises
• Validate new Bonded and Export customers and update database
• Give out and record Duty Stamps
• Assist Wine Standards visits
• Arrange Duty Suspended destructions
• Carry out inductions for new joiners
• Train relevant departments on Organics and Due Diligence
• Arrange duty payments on samples with the Finance team
• Perform stock adjustments to correct internal issues
• Take part in the annual Stock Take
• Create new: country codes, units of measure, Commodity codes and tax codes when required in ERP database
