This role is exciting and varied, you’ll work events at Chester Racecourse, Bangor-on-Dee racecourse, as well as many other events such as weddings, private events, festivals, national televised awards and shows – all at prestigious venues across the region.

About us
Chester Race Company is one of the North-West’s most admired brand with an evolving portfolio including three racecourses (all of which were awarded “Gold Standard” by the Racehorse Owners Association in 2022), our own in-house gaming company Chester BET, our catering company Horseradish, our Staffing agency Thyme People, an on-site hotel, and Commonhall St Social, a vibrant city centre pub within the group.
Depending on the type of event or area you could be working, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring that room set ups and break downs for all event types are carried out to company standard
- Provide delivery and leadership of both small & large events
- Deal with customers in a prompt and professional manner, dealing with any complaints effectively, or escalating those that you are unable to deal with at the time
- Deliver staff briefings for events
- Ensure the security of the premises, stock, and cash, following the company cash handling procedures
- Recording open and close stock counts, monitoring levels of stock and liaising with the cellar team
- Briefing all staff and following the management pack to log any wastage or report incidents
- Responsible for use of tills and PDQs
- First point of call for dealing with issues on the day and liaising with area manager
The successful Hospitality or Catering Supervisor / Managers must have the following:
- Previous experience in Hospitality Events / Catering / Retail / Events in a Supervisor / Manager capacity
- The ability to empower and lead a team
- Ability to build relationships and promote a positive work environment
- Ability to identify strong team members and recommend upskilling
Our rates of pay (All rates are inclusive of holiday pay and are in affect from 1st April 2024)
£16.00 - £19.00 per hour dependant on experience
Shift availability
Our shifts vary! You are in control of the hours you work via our staff app. We have race days and other events across the calendar year. There is however an expectation that you work as many of the Chester Race Days as possible.
This is a casual contract working on an ad-hoc basis around our events. For this reason, we can’t guarantee a set number of hours.
