Role: Duty Manager
Salary: £16 per hour plus tips
Hours: 45 hours per week
Based: Matfen Hall Country Hotel, Spa and Golf Estate
Reporting to: General Manager
Overview:
Matfen Hall is a privately owned five-star country house 63-bedroom hotel, spa, and golf course. Converted to a Hotel in 1999 by Sir Hugh and Lady Anna Blackett, the Hotel was purchased by Sir David and Lady Sylvia Harrison and Family in August 2020.
Since the takeover in 2020, a programme of refurbishment and repositioning of Matfen Hall has taken place, with further investment to follow. The direction of the business is to achieve 5 Red Star status within the next few years. As Duty Manager you will be part of the repositioning of the Hotel from its previous status as a volume wedding venue and hotel to become a luxury property offering a high-level service with a broad product offering that endears guests to stay for several nights.
The role of Duty Manager will have particular emphasis on our restaurant and dining operations however you will also take an active role in the wider guest experience across the reception and housekeeping departments. Working closely with the wider management structurer to deliver an exceptional guest experience and a consistent level of service delivery. You will form part of the Hotel Duty Management team and be expected to attend Head of Department meetings and hold.
Duties and responsibilities:
· To operate the delivery of a warm and engaging brand of hospitality, reading our guests needs, anticipating them before they need to ask.
· The ensure all guests receive a high level of service at all service times.
· To ensure any feedback is shared with the management structure.
· To ensure all team members are fully trained on the use of the EPOS till, including the relevant banking procedures.
· Work with our Store person to ensure that all lines are present on the bars and wine lists and that wastage is properly recorded.
· Carry out and record weekly line cleaning.
· To ensure the appropriate scheduling of employees in line with business requirements and that rotas are issued on a rolling 4 weekly basis with weekly reviews to ensure that payroll is in line with business requirements.
· Play an active role in the recruitment, training and retention of team members.
· Prepare a rolling four weekly rota, ensuring that holidays are planned in and evenly spread to avoid impact on the business.
· Lead weddings and events operationally, briefing the team before service and liaising the kitchen throughout, similarly to the restaurant operations.

Prerequisites:
A passion for saying yes is the answer now what is the question, taking pride in finding innovative solutions to the ever-changing requests that guests will bring us. Available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
Education:
Previous experience in a luxury Hotel setting, with focus on Restaurant and Bar operations. Someone who has demonstrated and interest in career development through cross departmental training or management training.
Experience:
Two years plus service in an assistant departmental manager level customer facing role within a luxury Hotel setting.
