We looking to hire a full-time, live-in Housekeeper to help us at our country house. We share the house with one other family. Our family of four includes two young boys under 2 years old, I grew up in the UK and my wife is dutch. The other family are greek and have 2 young girls. Both families usually bring a nanny with them when visiting the country house.
We usually visit the house on weekends and holidays, so you will usually work long hours each weekend, and then use the weekdays to recover prepare the house for the next weekend.
The main house is c. 4,000 sq ft over 3 floors. You will live in the staff cottage, which has 2 floors and its own kitchen, living room, garage and laundry area. The grounds are beautiful and extensive, and tended to by a team of gardeners.
Must speak English very well.
Responsibilities:
- Laundry: Washing, ironing, folding of clothes, and table / bed linen. Minor repairs and alterations of clothing where needed. Polishing shoes. Coordinating with dry cleaners for delicate items or larger repairs
- Cleaning: tidying up, hoovering, washing dishes, making the beds. Deep clean every 6 months. Care of appliances.
- Cooking: sometimes just helping with food prep and setting the table, as we both love to cook, other times we'll ask you to prepare the whole meal. The ideal candidate will be able to follow recipes to cook foods that we like, and also cook for larger groups on occasion. You should discuss meal plan requirements with us at the start of each week. There is an extensive vegetable garden and cookbook library at the house, which you should use to cook healthy, fresh seasonal meals.
- Organising: we like to keep everything very neatly organised and labelled, so that we can find things easily
- Managing contractors
- Shopping: coordinating with food suppliers to ensure the house is fully stocked with fresh, healthy food and drinks. We will trust you to make sure we have what we need, and to keep track of what you spend
- Miscellaneous: we like having helpful people around who can find ways to be useful, even if it isn't in the job description
To be successful in your application, you should have recent experience in a similar role, ideally working for the same family for long time. If you have a great attitude and we like working with you, we will pay for you to take training courses relevant to your role, so that you can become an even better cook and housekeeper!

- Your accommodation will be in a separate staff cottage which has 3 bedrooms, a kitchen and a living room. When the family are in residence, we will sometimes ask other members of staff to sleep in the staff cottage; usually no more than 5/6 days per month. Please could you confirm you are comfortable with this arrangement?
