Housing Improvement Assistance Programme Co-Ordinator

The Role

  • Undertake all duties associated with the coordination and administrative support to the Private Sector unit in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures, council standing orders and financial regulations.
  • Provide high quality, confidential and trustworthy customer focused services to home owners, landlords, tenants and lettings agencies.
  • Respond to enquiries in line with internal policies and procedures.
  • Follow procedures to ensure the effective administration of applications for home improvement grants or loans and disabled facilities grants, including fees, charges and payments.
  • Ensure value for money by accurate record keeping, verification of information provided by applicants to check for breaches and potential fraud.
  • Assist clients in making applications and attending applicants properties where necessary.
  • Handle cash, cheques, credit/debit card payments and monitor payments to contractors.
  • At all times, maintain accurate and up-to-date easily accessible data on all assessments and decisions relating to casework across the unit. Ensure data complies with Data Protection and document retention requirements.
  • Work flexibly as part of a team to ensure individual and team targets are met.
  • Contribute to service innovation to continually improve outcomes for the residents of the borough
  • Contribute to and ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and in particular assessment of risks for lone working.
  • Carry out all tasks with due regard to the Councils policies and procedures with particular regard to the Equal Opportunities Policy.

The Candidate


Knowledge

  • Knowledge of private sector housing issues facing a local authority in an inner city area
  • Knowledge of the needs of elderly or vulnerable clients
  • Basic knowledge of legislation relating to grants and home improvements
  • Basic knowledge of the Housing Health & Safety Rating System

Experience

  • Experience of team working in a busy office environment
  • Experience of providing quality outcomes for residents
  • Experience of meeting demanding targets
  • Experience of operating a range of programmes and data bases


Benefits
Initially the successful candidate will need to attend the offices every day until they are fully trained at which point they will have the option to Hybrid work 60/40.
