- Good understanding of legal aid requirements.
- Possession of a valid practicing certificate.
- Prior experience handling a busy caseload, including urgent proceedings.
- Keenness to develop advocacy skills, as the firm rarely instructs counsel.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and cover work on colleagues' cases.
- Excellent IT skills.
- Willingness to work in the office most days and cover court hearings at short notice.
- Effective communication skills, especially when dealing with clients with mental health conditions.
- Passion for justice.
The selected candidate will take on the following responsibilities:
- Handling a significant caseload of legal aid housing cases.
- Providing advocacy when necessary, including covering cases for colleagues.
- Ensuring compliance with legal aid requirements.
- Attending court duty possession sessions.
- Adhering to the firm's file management and time costing procedures.
