The Council is focused on delivering the best possible outcomes for its communities. To do this the Council needs managers who thrive in a networked organisation and who can provide strong operational leadership. Your role will therefore be:
- To strategically manage, develop, organise, and coordinate a team of officers providing a full casework service for customers in housing need, preventing homelessness wherever possible, and carrying out timely and robust homelessness assessments where necessary ensuring that that the service meets all legislative requirements.
- To act as one of the service’s lead managers on special projects relating to homelessness prevention and advice and/or the assessment and application of the Council’s duties under homelessness legislation and move-on from temporary accommodation.
- The Housing Solutions Team Manager role is about developing and improving the service and our relationship with residents, assessing our service delivery from the customers perspective, and identifying improvement areas, particularly focused on reducing the spend on temporary accommodation.

- The requirements of this post could include attending meetings and other events outside normal hours as expected with a post of this nature and the postholder will need to manage their work life balance flexibly to meet the needs of the role.
Requirements
- Detailed knowledge of local authority legal obligations under the Housing Act 1996, Part VII, Homelessness Act 2002 the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
Domestic Abuse Act 2021 and the Homelessness Code of Guidance for Local Authorities. Knowledge shall also include related legislation such as those covering child protection, security of tenure, etc. - Experience of leading a busy frontline housing advice and/or homelessness service and/or significant technical experience
- Experience of partnership working and influencing and negotiating to achieve successful outcomes
Contract
- Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
- PAYE via Umbrella
- Rate depending on experience
- Initial 3 month contracty with the opportunity to extend
