About the role
As HR Manager at Starna Scientific you will oversee the complete employee life cycle, supported by our outsourced HR support supplier and our Management Team, for our ~100 UK employees.
This is a truly hands-on generalist HR role, ensuring the successful day-to-day implementation of the companies people policies and procedures. Reporting to the Directors, you will also have the opportunity to influence the companies wider HR strategy.
You will be keen to engage with people across the organisation on a diverse range of HR issues. You will be confident in providing coaching and support to leaders across the organisation. You will work with the production leadership team to ensure effective training and succession planning processes are in place.
This role is essential to ensuring Starna Scientific attracts, hires and retains highly skilled employees.
Key responsibilities
You will perform a wide range of human resources functions including:
Act as first point of contact for staff with any HR query Review, develop and maintain HR policies and processes against industry standards and company ethos, whilst ensuring legislative and regulatory compliance Deliver training and coaching across the management team as required and ensure leaders are aware of any changes to legal or regulatory requirements Manage all ER issues including disciplinaries, grievances and appeals Manage recruitment campaigns, including creating job adverts, sifting CVs, setting up interviews and interviewing candidates Oversee onboarding for all employees to ensure an effective start to their time with the company Support managers with performance review and improvement processes Conduct employee engagement activities and suggest actions to improve areas of opportunity, implementing those that are agreed Assist with ongoing review of the benefits and rewards package Maintain up to date staff records and ensure GDPR compliance Produce timely reports on personnel activities (staffing levels, recruitment, training, attendance, leave, performance evaluations etc.) Assist with payroll preparation Assist with staff communications Liaise with external HR advice and support provider
About You
Experience:
Strong generalist experience in a HR Manager or similar role Minimum Level 5 or equivalent HR qualification Demonstrable experience handling ER matters to a successful resolution Experience in recruitment and developing and refining training and performance management processesSkills:
Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organisation Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills Adept at problem solving and conflict resolution High attention to detail Propensity for thinking critically and logically Happy to work autonomouslyDesirable:
Associate CIPD member status or higher Experience gained in a manufacturing environment Project management experience Experience of working with an outsourced HR supplier
