Barking and Dagenham College have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as an HR Operations Partner primarily at our Rush Green campus, with travel to our three sites in Barking planned on a regular basis. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, we will offer a competitive salary starting at £43,440 per annum.
The HR Operations Partnerrole:
Following a restructure of the HR Service a new HR Operations Partner role has been created to act as the lead contact within the HR Team for Employee Relations support and advice to our managers, with a principle focus on ensuring an accurate picture of casework across the college and working within KPI’s for issue resolution.
As our HR Operations Partner, you will play a critical role in protecting the integrity of College processes and procedures by effectively managing issues, supporting the development colleagues and ensure the continuous improvement deliver a customer focussed and proactive support service.
Key Responsibilities of ourHR Operations Partner:
- Ensuring a visible presence around all Campuses and the Broadway Theatre, developing a strong positive perception of HR among staff at all levels
- Act as a key contact for allocated services and provide support to individual employees, including counselling referrals as required
- Act in a generalist HR capacity across all aspects of the employee lifecycle, leading ER Casework matters, working through investigations and meeting KPI’s within this, escalating to the HR Operations Manager as required
- Coach, train, and develop management capability
- Guide managers through procedures, and make suggestions for continuous improvement in line with our Service Goals
- Proactively seek to resolve queries, conducting a level of research in the process as required – escalating or de-escalating the response as appropriate
- Support recruitment activities as required, including carrying out Interviews and Safeguarding Interviews
- Play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of HR data, inclusive of the Establishment through proactive record checking with curriculum and other teams, and rectification data issues arising through missing information reports.
- Support ensuring smooth onboarding and offboarding of employees, aiming to create a positive experience throughout all parts of the employees journey with BDC
- Conduct exit interview analysis at agreed intervals to inform improvements to practice
- Prepare accurate data for Payroll, and support in this process as required
Our ideal HR Operations Partnershould have the following skills and experience:
- CIPD Level 7 in HR Management (or equivalent)
- Chartered Member of CIPD or work evidence to demonstrate operating at this level and desire to attain this membership
- Significant experience operating at a senior level within an HR Team in an HR Advisory capacity
- Demonstrated history in successfully handling complex ER Casework
- Experience of working in the FE sector in HR would be an advantage, or experiencing in a similarly regulated and fast paced environment
- Advanced communication skills, with the ability to de-escalate situations
- Sound knowledge of Part 3 of KCSIE
- An in-depth understanding of Employment Law
- An understanding of Safeguarding Legislation and its application within the educational sector
- An understanding of and commitment to all aspects of equality and diversity

The College offers routes into learning from entry level through to MBA level, including apprenticeships, higher level apprentices, higher education and Job Centre plus clients. We have technical specialist areas from level 3 and above with a broad-based curriculum up to level 2.
