RWE Renewables UK Management Ltd. 12 Month fixed-term contract 

To start as soon as possible, Operational Site based at London Array Offshore Wind Farm, Ramsgate, Kent

Your future plans 

  • The HSE Advisor is responsible for providing independent, expert and professional advice and guidance to the site management on all health, safety and environmental issues, actively participating in and promoting a high standard of health, safety and environmental awareness and culture at the designated operational offshore wind farm
  • Maintenance of HSE risk registers to allocated offshore operations site designated
  • Liaising with Procurement on HSE topics related to allocated offshore operations site designated
  • Produce, review and update health safety and environment-related documentation required by the allocated offshore operations site designated and for the UK as directed by the Head of HSE Offshore Operations UK & CE or required by the HSE function
  • Proactively support and advise line/project management in meeting their HSE responsibility (incl. but not limited to risk assessments) with technical, organizational and procedural as well as compliance advice
  • Engage and develop relationships with operational teams to eliminate and reduce risks, develop HSE culture on site and adhere to HSE standards and rules
  • Cooperate with line management and where applicable Joint Ventures (JV) board members to develop and implement measures and solutions to address HSE challenges
  • Planning, steering and follow-up of HSE activities at operational level in coordination with the global HSE management of RWE Offshore Wind
  • Attend meetings, site visits and technology reviews with sub-contractors & clients concerning offshore operations as directed by the Head of HSE Offshore Operations and Team Lead HSE Offshore Operations, United Kingdom (UK)

Individual responsibilities

  • Build solid working relationships (both internally and externally)
  • Support offshore operations teams to ensure there is visible HSE leadership and commitment from within the teams, to develop and promote an enhanced HSE culture
  • Ensure the incident notification process is well established on site and incidents are reported in line with RWE Offshore Wind requirements
  • Drive implementation of a sound incident (incl. near-miss and observations) reporting culture. Monitor and submit incident statistics and relevant KPIs. Conduct trend analysis on incidents and discuss lessons learnt with relevant stakeholders
  • Provide advice to the site teams on health, safety and environmental legislative requirements, and compliance solutions
  • Ensure implementation of the RWE Offshore Wind contractor engagement and contract management standards to ensure high HSE standards when contractors conduct work
  • Support global RWE Offshore Wind HSE initiatives and audit programme
  • Ensuring HSE data is collated and reported to RWE Offshore Wind and Contribute towards JV Board governance reporting on HSE where applicable.

Your profile

  • Required qualifications & competencies
  • NEBOSH Certificate, ideally working towards a NEBOSH Diploma
  • IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management
  • They will ideally hold an audit qualification such as ISO 45001/14001 internal auditor
  • Experience in developing, implementing and maintaining a certifiable HSE Management System
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels through verbal and written communication including advanced listening skills
  • Experience as an HSE professional, especially in Offshore Wind
  • Experience in behavioural safety techniques and delivering behavioural safety training would be desirable
  • Be able to demonstrate a flexible, practical and collaborative approach to handling operational HSE challenges
  • To have effective organisational skills, a consistent, systematic, proactive and pragmatic approach. Able to work in a time-sensitive setting, team-oriented
  • Ability to act with sensitivity and discretion, respecting confidentiality at all times
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Good health, with general all round fitness to work in an offshore environment is a requirement for the role
  • The role will be based at London Array Offshore Wind Farm at the Port of Ramsgate and we are looking for candidates who live within ~45 minutes of commuting distance
