At Quest Global UK, we are looking for aHydraulic Design Engineer /NuclearCore Design Engineertojoin one of our Nuclear Power Project team based at Derby, UK.
Key Responsibilities
The Core Design Engineer is responsible for supporting the progressive design of the customer SMR Reactor Core.
The role involves working as part of the Core Design team of analysts to study and optimise the design of the reactor core, and associated systems.
The Core Design team includes multiple disciplines including Reactor Physics, Thermal Hydraulics, Fuel Performance and Criticality. Working in one of these disciplines, the Core Design Engineer will be required to build models of the core and interpret results to support ongoing design decisions.
Successfully delivering the required work packages to pass GDA Step 2 and GDA Step 3 through meeting regular internal deliverables and holding regular gated reviews.
Skills / Qualifications / Experience
- Design, modeling, and analyses of the Nuclear Core and evaluation of the fuel cycle performance for the passive, natural circulation, integral light water reactor.
- Develop nuclear parameters to provide input to safety analysis (transient and accident analysis), provide data for startup physics testing, support operations (acceptable limits for operations), and predict core follow.
- A strong academic background with an MSc in Nuclear Engineering or Nuclear Reactor Physics (or equivalent, relevant work experience).
- Strong planning and organising skills to manage all activities and deliverables.
- Ability to integrate well within a project team in a commercial environment. This will include working in collaboration with external partners and suppliers.
- Have knowledge and awareness of Export Control requirements.
- Working with due regard to Health, Safety and Environment to ensure that work complies with all necessary corporate, business and legislative requirements and procedures.
