Job description

Job overview
Senior Nurse Practitioner / Senior Mental Health Practitioner
i2i, Urgent Assessment and Home Treatment Service, Hampshire CAMHS
Positions available county-wide
We are fortunate to be able to appoint to new roles following additional investment from local CCGs for the expansion of the service.
We are looking to recruit Band 6 clinicians to join our dedicated and supportive urgent assessment and home treatment team (i2i) within Hampshire CAMHS. You will need to have a passion for working with young people and their families at times of crisis. You will be supporting them to remain at home or supporting the step-down care from hospital. We have a recently developed DBT model which is led from within the i2i team and therefore interest or experience in this is essential.
We are seeking highly motivated clinicians who have a professional registration as a nurse, senior Mental Health Practitioner, social worker, speech and language therapist, occupational therapist, clinical psychologist or other allied health professional.
These are permanent posts and full time or part time can be offered.
This post could also support a Band 5 to Band 6 development opportunity.
I2i is a county wide service that has three hubs based in Basingstoke, Fareham and Ashurst. Positions available in all. Shifts are managed by a flexible rota system between 8am - 8pm weekdays and 10am - 6pm weekends and bank holidays. Being mobile is a key element so the ability to travel is essential.
Main duties of the job
SPFT delivers the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service in Hampshire and this role will be based within the local i2i team. There are 7 community CAMHS teams as well as a dedicated Eating Disorder Service, an Early Help Service, including our Single Point of Access Team, and i2i Urgent Assessment and Home Treatment Team. Additional newly formed teams include a blended digital F2F team, and Paediatric Psychiatric Liaison Team to further enhance our offer to children, young people and families.
All of our teams work collaboratively and in partnership to deliver consistent high-quality care and treatment to the young people of Hampshire.
Key aspects of the role include provision of urgent Mental Health assessments in acute hospitals, risk management reviews, crisis DBT and home treatment for young people under the care of Specialist CAMHS, who require additional intervention for severe/complex Mental Health needs. Experience of risk assessment/management and collaborative working with young people and families is therefore essential.
The ability to work well within a team and forge good working relationships with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency colleagues are key components of this role. Experience of working in a Mental Health setting is essential for this post.
This post offers the Trust's £4,000 Incentive for band 5-7 Nurses & Practitioners, as well as a relocation package up to a maximum of £8,000 (subject to terms and conditions).
Working for our organisation
This is a great time to join the service and to be part of building a creative and innovative offer for young people experiencing Mental Health difficulties. Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has delivered the Service since 2011. We are focused on providing outstanding care and treatment that young people and their families can be confident in.
We have a strong clinical and managerial leadership structure, committed to staff wellbeing and professional development.
Development opportunities available to the team include in-house New to CAMHS training, regular informal training sessions and other CPD events. There is a robust induction and preceptorship programme. We have supported social workers through the ASYE programme upon qualifying as well as nurses and Mental Health Practitioners to progress through the bands. We have also commenced a DBT training programme, which has brought exciting new opportunities to further enhance the care and treatment that is provided, as well as enabling clinicians to have the future opportunity to complete a full DBT training course.
To protect the health and safety of our staff/workers, patients, and those attending our sites, we encourage our workforce to get fully vaccinated against COVID.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role includes remote and independent working to complete urgent Mental Health assessments / reviews in community and general hospital settings as well as home treatment for young people with significant Mental Health needs often at times of crisis.
Skills of risk assessment, risk management, engagement, collaborative working and flexibility are key for this role. The ability to work effectively with parents and carers as well is paramount.
The post holder will provide line supervision and mentorship to junior colleagues and students. At times there will be opportunities to be involved in the development and review of service development.

This is what our colleagues say about working with us:
"From my first day working for i2i has been such a positive experience. I feel fortunate to work in a passionate, kind, and supportive team and we are privileged to work closely with young people and families at formative times. Training opportunities are numerous and the team fosters a developmentally-minded culture. Our work is varied and exciting. Working flexible hours allows for great work-life balance. I would recommend this role to anyone who enjoys working in a friendly and positive environment and who values being able to input meaningfully at times of need for young people with acute Mental Health difficulties." (Senior Mental Health Practitioner / Social Worker).
"Working in i2i means working in a team who are compassionate, innovative, and creative. There is a strong emphasis on personal and professional development; as a service we are constantly striving to adhere to the best evidence-based practice and to deliver the highest quality care. Young people and their families are at the heart of everything we do; however, it is also recognised that staff wellbeing is integral to an excellent service. Consequently training, supervision and teamwork are at the top of our agenda. The role is flexible, interesting and constantly creates opportunities to feel as though you are making a genuine, helpful impact on the lives of young people struggling with their Mental Health. I would recommend working in i2i to anybody who values being part of a caring, kind and motivated team who want to get the best results from both their colleagues and those they are caring for." (Senior Mental Health Nurse Practitioner).
