About the Role :

The successful candidate will be accountable for Import/Export operational processes, and ensuring Import/Export regulations are met whilst liaising with internal stakeholders in procurement, supply chain, production, warehouse and finance.
On the export side the role focuses on enhancing the customer experience through consistent and seamless delivery of great customer service. The role is responsible for the day to day running of Import/Exports and dealing efficiently with queries to ensure goods are continuing to move.
On a daily basis you’ll be responsible for, but not limited to :
  • Design and manage Import/Export process, ensuring this is implemented consistently across the business and act as a central point and subject matter expert for all shipping and customs related activities.
  • Arranging export shipment and related documents to locations worldwide in compliance with legal obligations, ensuring paperwork required by the customers is delivered
  • Own, manage and monitor all customs activities, ensuring goods are declared accurately and in a timely manner, and that all paperwork is filed appropriately.
  • Being the primary point of contact for Import/export queries with freight forwarders/suppliers/customers
  • Ensuring all company parts and materials are classified in accordance with UK trade tariff codes and the Import/Export is processed using the correct customs regime.
  • Ensuring Country of Origin legislation is adhered to and all goods classified correctly.
  • Developing an understanding of upcoming changes to export & import legislation, including sanctions and the impact thereof, advising the business as appropriate and on a timely basis.
  • Organising workload and tracking the stages of Import/Export shipments / orders at any one time.
  • Take ownership of all dealings with HMRC, in conjunction with UK Tax Manager where necessary
About you:
We want to make sure you’re set up for success in our mission. To be successful in your application you’ll need to have experience;
  • Proven experience working in an Import/Export department – minimum 3 years.
  • Up-to-date working knowledge of import and export regulations, including a thorough understanding of international customs and paperwork procedures understanding and experience working with Incoterms
  • Confident, self motivated, strong stake holder management skills, good communication and being proactive.
  • Attention to detail and high computer literacy.
