Job description

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are looking for a part time Income Officerto join our Income Team in Tenant Services. To be successful in this role, you will share our values , commitment, and motivation to make a difference for our residents, clients, and communities. You will join us on a part time, fixed term contract for up to 12 months. The successful candidate will earn a competitive salary of £34,834 - £41,418 per annum (pro rata for part time).

Job share opportunities will be considered.

Responsibilities as our Income Officer role:

  • to collect Housing Revenue Account income and where necessary use appropriate enforcement powers to recover outstanding debt
  • deliver a detailed range of housing and welfare benefits advice to customers, considering individual needs and relevant legislation, the policies and procedures of the council and identify appropriate solutions/support available
  • work collaboratively with other services, teams and partners to ensure income to the Housing Revenue Account is maximised and tenants have access to all available advice and appropriate support required to sustain their tenancies.

As our Income Officer , you will need to:

  • possess a relevant qualification at NVQ4/HNC/degree or equivalent knowledge gained through experience of working within housing or a housing related field
  • have experience of debt case management and tenancy enforcement within a housing environment including preparing cases for court and representing the council in court
  • have experience of providing assistance and advice and show understanding and empathy with people facing personal difficulties
  • be a proactive, problem solver.
