SalaryOur client is the UK branch of an international group. They seek an experienced VAT professional to run Indirect Tax including VAT, PPT and Customs for the UK. In this role you will:
- Responsibility for managing the UK’s Indirect Tax compliance reporting, including the accurate & timely submission of the Group VAT Return and other submissions to HM Revenue & Customs
- To make continuous improvements to VAT & operational tax processes, in keeping with evolving government legislation & tax policy
- Correction of errorenous AP entries on a monthly basis, liaise with the AP team to reduce errors at the point of entry onto SAP
- Liaise with HMRC & external advisors as required to resolve technical VAT issues
- Advisory role for the finance department & the wider business for any VAT or general tax queries. Communicate key VAT & operational tax issues clearly & concisely to non-tax specialists
- Maintain VAT tax balances on the General Ledger
- Support the business with treatment of Import Duties & VAT
- Reconciliation of the duty deferment accounts & MSS Export/Import Data
- Review the business status regarding any newly arising indrect taxes, such as Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT)
- An understanding of SAP tax tables & tax code conditions would be desirable
Alongside Indirect Tax any experience of:
• Employment tax knowledge (PSA/P11D) and/of advisory
• Tax compliance (SAO/tax Strategy/BRR+/Risk Management
Would be useful.
There is scope for development in the role and it would suit either an experienced VAT manager from practice looking for a move in to industry or someone who already works in-house. The role can be Hybrid worked (ideally a couple of days a week in the office). There isn't scope for visa sponsorship - this roles requires previous UK VAT experience.The ideal candidate will have either trained with HMRC or will have a relevant professional qualification. This is a classic in-house role with a good mix of compliance, reporting and project work.
