Working as part of a cross functional team, you deliver the RDQ activities required to complete new product development, portfolio maintenance and/or productivity projects with an emphasis on meeting the desired consumer experience.

How you will contribute

With the support and guidance of a manager, you will organize and execute projects in line with RDQ, marketing and manufacturing requirements, effectively communicating status and risks. You will plan and conduct pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements and development activities (e.g. product shelf-life testing, designing for quality, consumer test preparation etc.). You will also write technical reports that will require the analysis and interpretation of results and that lead to conclusions and recommendations and create and maintain accurate consumer-led specifications.

What you need to know about this position:

The Mondelēz International Global Chocolate Design Team has a very exciting opportunity, for an Industrial / product Designer, creating innovative products and great consumer experiences for the global chocolate market.

The Industrial / Product Design role, based in the Bournville Innovation Centre, at the heart of Chocolate creativity for Mondelez. Here we create and develop consumer experiences for global chocolate brands such as Cadbury, Milka, Toblerone, Lacta, etc, as well as drive global research programs to gather consumer understanding and deliver great consumer experiences.

The successful candidate, will have relevant experience within product / industrial design, supported by exceptional creative thinking and the ability to support & drive design projects from conceptual thinking to implementation, work closely with the rest of the Mondelez Design Hub team and a wide multidisciplinary team creating future chocolate products for Global Brands.

The main responsibilities for the designer are:

  • To produce high quality creative thinking and ideas applicable to mass manufacturing
  • To work and deliver projects within the company at a global level, producing Design concepts / solutions from concept through completion
  • To drive and be responsible for your own work ensuring the completion of creative work according to the project time frames.
  • To show an ability to take direction when needed and oversee all the aspects of a project interacting with cross-functional creative teams such as technology innovation, packaging & chocolate development, process innovation, etc.
  • Inspire not only the Design Hub but the entire organisation with creative and innovative design proposals
  • To Work within a creative team in a fast pace with multiple projects going on simultaneously
  • Constantly build relationships and collaborate with other functions of the organisations and external suppliers to ensure high quality creative work aligned to the business strategy.

The right candidate should be passionate about all things creative and creative thinking, be able to support and drive executable proposals and contribute to raise the already high standard of creativity within our company.

The right candidate for this role should:

  • Be able to demonstrate relevant experience in the Design & development of products and knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques.
  • You will have a confident and efficient approach to creativity, innovation and product design & development. Proactivity on project work will be key.
  • Have a great consumer centric approach to Design & innovation. Understanding consumer insights and capitalising this on the creative process will be very beneficial for the role
  • You must be an innovative thinker with the ability to solve problems efficiently and realise the solutions.
  • You will be able to communicate concepts and ideas efficiently through great sketch work, visualisation and three-dimensional thinking. You will propose solutions and will be open to take direction when needed
  • You must be a 3D CAD user. (i.e. SolidWorks – Rhino), well versed in the Adobe creative suite, rendering & visualisation packages (i.e. Key shot) and be open to new cutting-edge technologies for Product / Industrial Design
  • You will take ownership of the projects and innovation platform(s) assigned to you and collaborate with other designers & product development teams when required.
  • This is a busy role that requires commitment to meet deadlines so good time and project management skills will be very useful.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of successful creative and ideation processes and methodologies

Travel requirements:

The designer role is an essential part of the Mondelez Design Hub, a global team that supports Mondelez chocolate innovation. The position will involve some domestic and European traveling

Please note this is a 2 year Fixed Term Contract.
