This role is for an Industrial Relations Specialist, a crucial role within the Human Resources team in the Transport & Distribution industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing labour relations and acting as a bridge between the workforce and management.

Description
- Responsible for leading and shaping the development of the Long Term IR strategy and action plan
- Managing labour relations and ensuring smooth communication between the workforce and management.
- Working closely with the People Change Partner and Head of Workforce Development and the current ER team to identify opportunities for and the impact of introducing new terms and conditions
- Developing and implementing Industrial Relations policies.
- Leading negotiations on staff contracts.
- Develop long-term IR strategy and action plans
- Resolving labour disputes in a timely and effective manner.
- Collaborating with other HR team members on workforce planning and employment legislation.
- Providing advice and guidance on Industrial Relations matters to senior management.
- Analysing and interpreting employment trends within the Transport & Distribution industry.
- Overseeing compliance with employment laws and regulations.
Profile
A successful Industrial Relations Specialist should have:
- A degree in Human Resources, Law, or a related field.
- Substantial HR experience with expertise in specialist Industrial Relations and relevant legislation
- Proven ability in carrying out high level trade union negotiation
- A detailed understanding of collective bargaining arrangements and associated policies and procedures
- Proven track record of collaborative working and building strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- An ability to seek out best practice and innovation and apply learning to delivery of objectives
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to persuade influence and, when appropriate, challenge with tact and diplomacy
- A creative and analytical thinking style, applying tenacity in the face of obstacles.
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience in Industrial relations in a collective bargaining environment and relevant legislation
- Experience of working with different tiers of stakeholders
