The opportunity
We’re looking for two new team members to join the Quality Management Group; an Industrial Safety Engineer, supported by an Assistant Industrial Safety Engineer, to provide assurance that Industrial Safety arrangements are in place and compliance is maintained against site, company and industry requirements.
Pay, benefits and culture
The salary range associated with these roles are between £40,069
- £84,892; however the starting salary for the Industrial Safety Engineer will be within the range of £40,069
- £71,101 and for the Assistant Industrial Safety Engineer, the range is between £40,069
- £60,826.
You’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. What you’ll be doing
As a member of the Industrial Safety Team, you’ll be:
- Accountable for providing specialist Industrial Safety advice to line management and for the delivery of agreed targets
- Liaising with the internal and external Regulators on Industrial Safety matters
- Engaging with Industrial Safety Branch as a key stakeholder in the revision or production of Industrial Safety standards or guidelines for company wide application
- Participating in the Industrial Safety Peer Group network in the development and implementation of fleetwide continuous improvement initiatives and sharing of good practice.
- You will be required to maintain the Asbestos Register and liaise with external companies to ensure compliance
- You will be required to produce Significant Risk Permits
- Lead station on safety improvements and communicate best practice to peers and wider business
- Support the investigations of events
Who you are
For the Industrial Safety Engineer role, a relevant HNC in a technical discipline and Nebosh Certificate would be required, with you working towards the Nebosh Diploma. For the Assistant position, you will need a relevant HNC in a technical discipline as a minimum, preferably with a NEBOSH Certificate.
For both roles, it would be desirable if you:
- Are a member of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (MIOSH)
- Have knowledge of the HSE regulatory framework, as well as UK safety legislation relevant to nuclear power station operations and site licence requirements.
- Have knowledge of key Industrial Safety risks present within nuclear power stations supported by applicable control measures to mitigate risks would be beneficial, alongside
- Bring a detailed knowledge of company safety management systems and associated Industrial Safety standards, specifications and guidelines in place to provide safe systems of working within the power station environment.
- Experience working with the key processes, equipment systems and services used in nuclear power generation.
