About the role:
To respond to the Council's obligations under the various information request regimes. To support the corporate agenda in the implementation and monitoring of robust governance of information throughout the organisation and Powys Schools.
About you:
- Reasonable knowledge of information governance practices
- Good knowledge of information legislation: Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and Data Protection Legislation.
- Knowledge of the functions of a Local Authority
- Superb time management skills.
- Able to take responsibility and exercise own judgement.
What you will do:
- To task and monitor the gathering of relevant information to enable the development of responses to information requests, within strict timelines;
- To prepare responses and disclosures to information requests, based upon the information received from liaising and communicating with staff of all service areas, and utilising knowledge of and the ability to interpret information legislation, to apply the appropriate exemptions to disclosure, as allowed by the specific legislation.
- To provide specialised, accurate and timely advice, guidance and instructions to staff, Schools and the public in respect of the various information regimes.
- To respond appropriately to reports of breaches of personal data, by the analysis of information supplied/obtained, to ensure the relevant actions in terms of investigation, management and subsequent ICO reporting are carried out in line with Council / School policies and data protection legislation.
- To carryout precise and accurate administrative duties in an efficient and effective manner in support of the Council’s wider Information Governance agenda, and respective managers.
