We are looking for a Level 1/2 IT Support Engineer.

The successful candidate will be able to:

· Demonstrate a level of understanding of Networking – switches, routers, IP, DHCP, DNS, Routing, tunnelling and shares

· Demonstrate an understanding of client operating systems, Windows 7, 8, 10, 11 – registry, sharing folders, multiple logons, mapping drives, printer configuration

· Demonstrate a reasonable level of understanding for NAS and other network devices

· Demonstrate a reasonable level of understanding of server operating systems, SBS 2003, 2008, 2011, Server 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022

· Disinfect a PC with a virus or malware

· Backup and restore, files and folders, whole PC’s and whole servers – including bare metal

· Recognise when a system is running slowly and why, recommend a course of action

· Have a good fault finding methodology, and experience in working out why systems, applications or networks aren’t performing correctly

· Demonstrate some understanding of cloud based services – Office 365, Google Suite, Azure, cloud based backups, software as a service and cloud based applications

· Demonstrate knowledge of VoIP solutions and the implementation of VoIP services

Duties will include:

· Remote troubleshooting of client issues via remote access software and telephone

· Visiting site to implement fixes or look at issues that cannot be resolved remotely

· Updating policies and procedures to incorporate new best practices or ideas

· Documenting new procedures and updating the knowledge base

· Checking and fixing any backup issues

· Checking in the Remote Management Module console for issues and resolving

· Keeping on top of their ticket queue – updating tickets accurately and keeping the client properly informed of the progress of any projects or tickets

· Escalation of any issues beyond their capability technically or politically, to either the technical lead or the client manager

· Building workstations and servers, deploying them to site

· Migrating email over to Office 365

· Migrating data over to cloud storage

· Involvement and participation with various company marketing initiatives such as expo’s and business networking.

· A good telephone and personal manner

· The will and desire to communicate with clients, suppliers and colleagues

· Neat and tidy, and willing to wear the uniform provided

· Responsible for tools and spares

· Work extra hours as required and where reasonable to finish a job, this is IT and sometimes it doesn’t stop at 5:30

· Be available for weekend work as and when necessary for migrations

· Happy to share their experience and knowledge with others, and learn from the experience and knowledge of others.


This could be a full-time or part-time position, the hours being 20 to 37½ hours per week.
