Infrastructure Automation Engineer

Purpose of the Role:

To assist with automation of IT infrastructure setup, management, support and processes using standard automation tools.

Key Role Accountabilities:

• Assist with setup of Infrastructure Automation processes and standards.
• Developing, maintaining and troubleshooting PowerShell scripts and modules.
• Deploy infrastructure using Terraform, develop modules and templates for repeatable, standardised deployments.
• Using Ansible for configuration management, developing playbooks and standard configurations
• Packaging applications for deployment via automation tools
• Management of underlying infrastructure of Edge platform including documentation, support, and continuous improvement.
• Working with Edge and other development teams on changes/upgrades to supporting infrastructure.
• Assisting IT teams with process automation. Gathering requirements, designing and documenting solutions through to implementation
• Knowledge sharing with other IT teams to increase utilisation of automation tools within the wider IT department.
• Assisting with day-to-day infrastructure management, resolving issues, deployments, migrations, various project and BAU work

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

Strong PowerShell scripting skills

Broad practical knowledge and experience of the following:

• Microsoft Technology stack: Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, Office 365
• Azure Services(IaaS, PaaS, Serverless)
• Networking
• Terraform
• Ansible or other config management tools
• Chocolatey or other application packaging tools

Desirable:

• Azure DevOps Pipelines
• Any development experience/certificates or other scripting languages like python
• Linux Experience
• Container Experience

Person Specification:

This role would suit a 3rd line Infrastructure engineer with a strong background in scripting/automation looking to transition into a more automation focused/DevOps type role.
