Regional enterprise services business is seeking to recruit an experienced people manager to lead their infrastructure team. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management across Service Operations, Infrastructure Architecture and Cyber Security as well as the wider IT team to ensure that the IT estate both supports the business service level requirements and conforms to legal and regulatory obligations.
The company operates a hybrid working model, where the person will need to be in the office c. 2 days a week, with some travel to their other office in Sunderland.
The company doesn't sponsor visas, so applicants will require indefinite leave to remain.
The Role
Managing a team of infrastructure engineers, across Windows, Linux, AWS Cloud and SAP Basis, the Infrastructure Operations Manager will:
- Undertake supplier management and relations
- Create and maintain technical documentation for the IT estate
- Ensure that ITIL best practices are applied across the existing BAU estate and to new solutions.
- Ensure that the IT estate conforms to security best practices of least privilege and encryption both at rest and in transit.
- Review changes and designs to ensure continual adherence to our design standards and security best practices.
- Work with Internal and External audit to support effective audits and to close audit actions as they arise
The Requirements
With a technical infrastructure background, the person will have proven people management skills, having led an infrastructure team within an enterprise scale environment. Most importantly candidates will:
- Possess good communication and people skills to lead a team with variety of skillsets.
- Be able to work effectively with other IT teams and project services
- Have operated under an ITIL framework, with familiarity of all disciplines within the framework.
- Be focused on RTO/RPO and ITDR functions supporting restoration of services and operating under BCM
- Have practical experience in problem solving and performing root cause analysis on complex services
- Experience of mentoring of peers and junior staff members along with knowledge transfer and cross pollination of skillsets.
- Possess strong relationship building skills to work well with operational stakeholders and heads of department
- Be aware and understand operating an IT estate covered by critical national infrastructure principles
Desirable skills include:
- Strong knowledge and implementation experience of multiple technologies including networking (LAN, WAN and WLAN), infrastructure and applications both on-premise (Windows & Linux), public cloud (notably AWS) and SaaS
- ITIL Foundation or managing professional qualifications
- Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning systems, ideally SAP
