In this Insurance Underwriter graduate role, you will be joining an incredible business with bases in Leeds, London and Kent.
This insurance company provides residential and commercial legal indemnity insurance to the property sector across the UK and Europe, and are now one of the world’s largest providers of title insurance services.
Their Leeds team are now looking for a motivated and driven graduate to join as an Underwriting Assistant!
Job description – Insurance Underwriter
In this Junior Underwriter role in Leeds, you will be joining a highly successful team of underwriters, specialising in high net-worth property insurance! You will assist with the daily underwriting and processing of commercial and residential risks, ensuring that new business is secured, in addition to learning about the various risks and underwriting them effectively. Importantly, you will develop and maintain excellent working relationships with key clients and brokers in the UK ensuring a consistently high level of service. The ideal candidate will be someone who is very commercially aware, organised, analytical, and enjoys working in client-facing environments. This is the perfect opportunity to kick-start your career in Underwriting, with lots of support, training and encouragement from your team.
Key responsibilities – Insurance Underwriter
In this Insurance Underwriter role in Leeds, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the daily underwriting and processing of commercial and residential risks
- Reviewing and summarising files gathering information on cases
- Undertaking legal research and projects
- Proactively developing industry knowledge
- Ensuring a high level of accuracy in policy wording
- Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with clients and confidently discussing policy with them
- Working with integrity, company values, and to regulatory standards
- Travel, including to other sites within the company group, is required
Job requirements - Insurance Underwriter
- A 2.1 university degree, preferably in STEM, Law, Economics, Geography, etc.
- Ideally some work experience, or internship, in a commercial environment
- Advanced in using Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving, analytical and technical skills
- Confident with building client relationships and communicating with executives
- Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail
- Demonstrates a ‘can do’ attitude and a proactive approach to learning and development
- A positive, collaborative and flexible team player!
