I am pleased to be recruiting for a major Not For Profit organisation based in Sheffield who are looking to add an Interim Head of Financial Operations to their team to support during a period of transition.
Your new role
As Head of Financial Operations, you will report directly to the Director of Finance. This is a key leadership role that will design, review, improve, and deliver a Financial Operations function that is fit for purpose in the context of supporting delivery of the organisation\'s overall strategy. The role will lead the Financial Operations teams, which are:
● Procurement
● Pay and Pensions
● Accounts Payable (Payments)
● Travel and Business Expenses
● Accounts Receivable (Income Office)
● Finance Systems
The postholder will lead c.75 staff, creating a culture of collaboration, continual improvement, excellence and effectiveness. You will provide direction and strong scrutiny to ensure that operational activities are executed and successfully delivered effectively and efficiently and in line with any regulatory requirements. The role will lead to developing the strategy for, and delivery of long term system improvements and developments across Finance with a view towards a new ERP system in 5 years. The system will work closely with other colleagues within the department or outside, such as with IT Services (ITS) or Planning, Projects and Business Intelligence (PPBI). The role will work closely with the Head of Financial Control and Compliance to identify and implement a robust control environment, efficiencies, process reviews, and system enhancements within the existing suite of systems.
You will need to have an extensive and proven track record of team management, with excellent personal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues within and outside the Finance department. Good system knowledge and the ability to challenge the status quo and improve processes is essential. You should have extensive prior experience of managing financial processing functions, and of developing and enforcing associated policies and procedures.
What you\'ll need to succeed

• In depth leadership experience of a multiple Financial Operations team in a large and diverse organisation, with successful delivery of priorities
• Experience of reviewing services, processes and systems. Identifying necessary changes and improvements and implementing these to ensure excellence in service delivery and close assignment to strategic priorities
• Experience of delivering high quality, meaningful, accurate and timely financial information to inform strategic decisions
• Experience in successfully overseeing the effective use and development of Financial systems, such as functional database systems or ERP systems, working in partnership with interdisciplinary specialists as necessary
• Ability to identify the need for change and improvements, to prioritise accordingly, to drive this proactively and positively
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
