About us
We are the lead body for Scotland’s historic environment; a charity dedicated to the advancement of heritage, culture, education, and environmental protection. We’re at the forefront of researching and understanding the historic environment and addressing the impact of climate change on its future. We investigate and record architectural and archaeological sites and landscapes across Scotland and care for more than 300 properties of national importance. We have a People Strategy, which is an overarching strategy to ensure we support and develop staff within the organisation.
Overview of the role
Historic Environment Scotland (HES) is seeking candidates for a fixed term within our Internal Communications team on a fixed term basis for 18 months, with the potential to extend up to 2 years.
Reporting to the Director of People, you will play a key strategic role as a member of the People Directorate leadership team here at Historic Environment Scotland. You will lead a team of Internal Communication Professionals, focused on bringing our people closer together, creatively helping colleagues to understand our strategy and their role within it, leading to a high performing culture where people feel informed, connected, and empowered.
You will build strong and effective relationships across our Executive Leadership team, working in partnership to shape, deliver and evaluate our Internal Communications. By putting our colleagues at the heart of decision making and being in tune with the pulse of the organisation, you will steer us towards the most impactful ways of communicating with our people.
This role is a unique opportunity to help shape what it feels like to work for Historic Environment Scotland, coaching and developing our Internal Communications team to maximise the collective value they can bring. You will be responsible for developing and delivering our Internal Communication Strategy and play a pivotal role in how we continue to build a diverse and inclusive culture that inspires colleagues across our HES Community.
About you
We are looking for a candidate with an existing Internal Communications background at a strategic level, who holds experience of leading a team within a multi-disciplinary organisation. You’ll be a driver of positive change with employee wellbeing at the heart of what you do and hold the ability to design communication plans which consider inclusion and accessibility in all tactics.
