Interim Head of Risk, Assurance and Counter-Fraud

Contract Type: Interim (6 months)

Salary: £60,000 pro rata

Location: Fully Remote/ London

Trinity House Group are supporting a Sport Organisation, looking for an Interim Head of Risk, Assurance and Counter-Fraud, with the potential for the role to go permanent.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Drive the development and implementation of an Orange Book-compliant risk management framework, leveraging internal audit recommendations as a foundation. Produce guidance and tools to support across the organisation.
  • Take the lead in addressing compliance issues, including data evaluation and the preparation of reports.
  • Provide expert advice to facilitate the organisation's risk management processes, encompassing risk identification, assessment, management, and monitoring.
  • Lead the initiation and implementation of best practice internal governance procedures, serving as the senior point of contact for all internal governance matters.
  • Corporate ownership of crucial internal governance policies, such as counter-fraud, anti-bribery and corruption, declarations and conflicts of interest, and whistleblowing.
  • Provide support to the CFO (Chief Finance Officer) as the counter-fraud lead.

Skills Needed:

  • Operational Risk Experience.
  • In-depth knowledge, awareness, and ability to incorporate the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards and Government Functional Standard for Internal Audit (GovS 009).
  • Familiarity with the Government Counter Fraud Standard.
  • Understanding of the legal framework related to fraud and other economic crimes.
  • Strong influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
  • Experience in independently conducting investigations and/or proactive fraud reviews end-to-end with minimal supervision.
