Main Duties
Section 1: Purpose of the Role
To support the creative director in the design, development and delivery of effective uniform solutions. Previous industry experience is essential for success in this role as it will include a lot of responsibility.
Passionate and self-motivated within a ‘hands-on’ environment. To be able to prioritise effectively and manage workload through good time management skills.
Section 2: Key Responsibilities
General Overview:
· Accurate execution of design briefs in line with customer profile
· Managing time to deliver ranges in line with the critical path and CRM as required
· Executing the development process in a timely manner with the client and working as part of a team to deliver the project
· Source and develop fabrics, trims and accessories as per the customer designs and requirements
· Good knowledge of garment construction, specification drawings and technical packs
· Ensure accurate and commercially viable project pricing according to designs
· Alongside the team value engineering design to ensure cost effective production as well as upholding brand values
· Job profitability – ensuring actual costs in line with budget and effective time management
· Reviewing FGL operational processes and procedures making it fit for purpose alongside creative director
Presentations
· Communicating and negotiating Field Grey’s offer
· Ability to deliver presentations and organising proposals and pitches
· Providing support to the Creative Director with proposals, pitches and promotion of new business
· Excellent organisational, communication and negotiating skills
· Researching and developing design presentations and inspiration boards, proposals and pitches
Production and Product Development
· To communicate designs and product development details to technical and Product Developer
· To meet deadlines for products planned by Creative Director and team
· Activating design changes following meetings and fit reviews. Updating designs and technical packs with design amendments
· Assisting the team in preparation of development trips, ensuring all required information is prepared for the travelling team members
· Assist Technical staff with audits, comments and quality control on all relevant Proto Samples (Red Seal), Pre-Production Samples (Gold Seal) and Production Samples (Black Seal)
· Assist technical Staff with wearer trials and client fittings, monitoring feedback and next steps with the team
Marketing & Business Development
· Initiate pitches and presentations
· Customer care
· Trend analysis
· Contributing to blog/website and social media platforms
Section 3: Other Specific Responsibilities
Project Management and Administration
· Build commercial relationships
· Work calmly to critical deadlines
· Set up and maintain detailed records of all project stages
· Update critical path (where necessary) and maintain department spreadsheets
· Respond to client queries and requests
Research
· Sector research and analysis
· Conduct online research & shop reports to keep up to date with any new trends and innovation throughout UK and international markets to feedback to the team
· Trend analysis within a range of industries
· Fabric & Trim developments
General Office Management
· General design administration including:
Note taking for meetings and agendas
Document filing

Skills and Experience Required
Section 4: About you
You must have formal design training and be eager to apply this to a commercial environment.
You will have worked your way up from entry level as a Fashion Design Assistant, after a minimum of 18 months to 3 years of fashion industry experience.
Essential attributes include
· Degree education with experience in the field
· Outstanding interpersonal skills, particularly with client and supplier liaison
· Advanced level user of relevant Adobe Software including: In-Design, Photoshop and Illustrator
· Confident working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Affinity
· Passionate interest in the value of design and garment construction in particular applying to everyday practical problems
· Excellent verbal and written English
