Internal Audit Apprentice

This structured development path is delivered alongside support from your line manager and the wider business. You will be an apprentice with us for one year and then you will be in a position to take a role within your chosen division.

Salary: £20,830

NB: Assessment centres for this vacancy will be run on 12 March 2024 so please ensure you are provisionally available to attend.

As part of the programme, you will study towards your ACCA Accountancy qualification.

The Internal Audit (IA) team works with every division within SJP, including its subsidiaries, so you will have a great opportunity to learn about a wide range of business areas, processes, and systems during and after your apprenticeship. The team’s aim is to drive continual improvement within SJP through its audit work and by providing effective challenge and insight to the business.

You will join a small team of 4-5 within the wider IA team and be involved in about 10 audit projects across the calendar year. Within your team, you will be involved in the following tasks:

  • Helping to deliver a portfolio of audits to a high quality and in compliance with the Division’s methodology, professional standards, and industry benchmarks, within agreed budget and timescales.
  • Learn and apply Internal Audit methodology and principles.
  • Engage, communicate, and liaise with business stakeholders to gain insight into processes & operations across the Group.
  • Obtain documents and assist the audit team in reviewing these.
  • Complete specific tasks within an audit to a high standard under the guidance of Audit Managers.
  • Provide high quality administration support to the wider team, as required.
  • Balance audit engagement commitments alongside studying towards a professional qualification (e.g. ACCA).

If you are interested in this role, you will need to hold a minimum of level 4 in English Language and Mathematics.

The Internal Audit Apprenticeship will suit those who enjoy critical thinking and understanding the best way to overcome challenges. You will need to be well organised to work on multiple projects at the same time and have high attention to detail, as this role is critical in protecting the business against potential risks.
